Newly built extension from kitchen extending into garden elevated around 800mm from the lawn. A space was created to bring the inside-out, the colour choice of coppered oak was chosen to match the internal floor colours.
Our clients requested a decked area which didn’t flow too far into the garden but created small seating areas at the same height as the internal flooring. The steps we designed to cut-into the main deck as not to loose too much lawn and with them being centralised on the deck it created a symmetrical design.
We offered a few different board styles designs and orientations as shown in the attached cad’s
‘PlasPro’ Recycled plastic was the framing & post choice on this project which gives a solid base for the deck which will never deteriorate like timber could. We always recommend PlasPro where decking is low to the ground due to lack of air flow and in-turn reducing the lifespan of a timber frame.
On this project the frame is elevated above ground so air flow is ideal, however the client wanted the peace of mind that PlasPro brings.
Millboard Coppered Oak & Burnt Ceader for both the main deck & steps. Coppered Oak fascia board cladding for under deck and step risers.
•dual colour of Coppered Oak with Burnt Cedar. A wonderful combo!
•horizontal and vertical fascia board installed as risers on step and vertically as under deck cladding.
•breaker board installed to add symmetry and to make a ‘no but-end’ deck.
•main colour is a perfect match with internal flooring to give an inside/outside look.
•glass balustrade to give un-obstructed views from kitchen into the garden.
As the deck was approx 800mm above ground level the underneath of the deck was clad to match the main deck colour, Coppered Oak. Fascia board was used for this, we installed these both horizontally and vertically. This created an appealing visual with the corners vertically installed to the ground, immediately under the bullnosed board we installed the fascia board vertically.
On the steps we used Coppered Oak, installed horizontally and Burnt Cedar installed vertically, this gave the flowing design to the steps using the Burnt Cedar colour.
