Our clients recently extended the rear of their home and at the same time some hard landscaping was completed to incorporate a large retaining wall and porcelain patio. The wall had created an extended levelled area of the centre section of the garden which contained an old timber deck which we uplifted and disposed of.
The brief was to create an extended decked area which incorporated section for planting which would be used to screen from the neighbours garden and to provide some colourful interest around the deck. Finally with the decking being high above the patio a balustrade was required to the outside front edge.
The new decking is slightly lower than the old timber deck and in-parts below ground level. For this reason HDPE recycled plastic framing was used throughout this build along with concrete form foundations, which meant that there will be no possible chance of the framing deteriorating through moisture intake. As with all our builds the construction of the frame was done using the highest quality and ‘best in class’ framing screws from Carpenter Mate.
Ebony Grey was chosen from the Millboard Enhanced Grain Range.
The clients loved the aesthetics of the Millboard range along with the long 25 year warranty. The Ebony Grey colour suited the surroundings and landscape perfectly giving a real timber look, along with great slip resistant properties and a decking system that is very easily maintained.
•A picture frame board was installed around the entire deck and steps creating a fantastic detail.
•The board orientation was changed to the area immediately above the steps creating a different look and layout to the rest of the deck.
•Reclaimed sleepers were installed next to the steps to help frame the deck as well as retain the soil in the borders.
•due to the height of the decked area a black Steel Railing Balustrade was installed.
